Soda Pop and Its Effect on Your Heart

One can of regular soda pop has 10 teaspoons of sugar, 150 calories. You would think that eating the large amount of sugar in a regular soft drink would be the culprit to cause metabolic syndrome-- the collection of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes that include abdominal obesity, high cholesterol and blood glucose levels, and elevated blood pressure. No, even diet soda can cause problems. Researchers have found a correlation between drinking diet soda and the metabolic syndrome.
